I am a clinical psychologist in Cape Town. This blog is a place for observations, reflections, and other things personal and public.

If you are looking for a therapist in the Southern Suburbs, I see adolescents, adults and couples for short-term or longer-term psychotherapy in Claremont. I am also the consulting psychologist at a private boys school in Rondebosch.

I have over ten years of experience in helping people in dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, addiction, anger, trauma, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and other problems of everyday living.

I believe that any therapeutic work must start from a trusting and safe relationship. On the basis of a good rapport I use a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive therapies to help clients to face up to their difficulties and to strengthen existing positive coping strategies.

    are you a jungian shrink?
    if so
how much do you charge a session?!
are you on the talent exchange?

Hi hoh. have to confess that the CT shot is not mine (borrowed from flickr – will have to find the photographer to credit). It’s a great photo though. The talent exchange sounds very interesting but will have to check our ethical code. Wouldn’t want to be struck off before I’ve even properly qualified! (Will qualify as a private practitioner after my community year ends in May 2009).

    Greetings from the East Coast!

I have really enjoyed reading your blog and my favourite photo is “Water” which you took in Betty’s Bay. Awesome shot!

  4. I came over here, from BOOK SA. Saw you had commented on the Farren/Emdon conversation. I’m interested in your blog and perspective.

Good to find your blog. I have stated a writing group in Betty’s Bay called Out of the Box and have some eccentric thinkers among us. Our last workshop was called ‘On the Road’ hosted by Lien Botha. It was based on Jack kerouac’s work. We have set up a blog – Betty’s Bay Writersblog. Take a look, you might find it interesting. Would love to paste your ‘road’ story! Please let me know if that would be OK

    Dear Pete,

We’d like to use one of your articles in a university textbook. Would you be able to let me have an email address to which I can send a formal request?

    Many thanks.
